What is a Gong Song? An experience of profound relaxation, when the chatty mind is quiet, that allows the nervous system to move from the fight/flight/freeze response to the rest/digest response. There, in that timeless and expanded space, our body/mind/spirit comes back into balance and healing on all levels can occur!

I am so grateful my path of more than 25 years as a massage therapist and yoga teacher led me to a yoga class the ended with a long “gong immersion” that changed my life! The ocean of sounds and vibrations surrounded me and infused every cell, and as I merged with them I had a meditative experience like no other, and a sense of my true Divine essence. I learned that the multidimensional vibrations of these unique instruments help our brains pass from the mundane, worried thoughts over into deep stillness, where endless possibilities of experiences exist. It has truly been an honor to play my Gong Song for others and share in their transformations!

In my quest to learn more, I was led to “Gong Camp” in Pennsylvania with Mitch Nur, (9ways.org). For six incredible days, 20 other campers and I were steeped in everything gong, including hours of playing a large variety of gongs together. There I bought my first three gongs, several mallets and a string of bells. I have made multiple trips to India and was able to hand select a wonderful variety of Tibetan (Himalayan) singing bowls. In order to provide a rich, diverse soundscape, my international ensemble of “round friends” come from Vietnam, Germany, Peru, China, India, Burma and Nepal. Because my motto is “mo’ metal is mo’ better”, I will be continually adding to my collection.

Each person’s Gong Song experience is unique. Those who have received them multiple times report that each experience is different. Also, they are able to drop into a deeply meditative state more easily, much like a regular meditation practice. Wonder what yours will be?

Otherworldly….I was floating….The pain in my neck melted into the floor….A sense of peace and calm never reached before….Dazzling colors….A celestial orchestra….
